Edu-Tech was at the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) Conference last week. The world's largest edtech conference was in our hometown, Philadelphia! Anup Somalwar, integration specialist at Cornerstone Christian Academy, presented how his school has expanded its Makerspace and Genius Hour programs. Anup will also share how, despite the challenges of being in a socio-economically disadvantaged neighborhood in Southwest Philly, Cornerstone has gotten the full support of teachers, who have grown professionally by leaps and bounds!
Participants were able to....
- Make connections between Makerspace projects and curriculum teachers are currently using in school
- See real-world examples of Makerspace projects and genius hour projects done by students
- Determine some of the positive benefits of using Makerspaces and Genius Hour on students and teachers
- Navigate some of the challenges in creating successful Makerspace and Genius Hour projects
Anup demoed Squishy Circuits, 3D printed projects and more. He had a steady stream of visitors at his booth!
